I Am Joining the 1M Clean Toilets Movement

This November 13, World Toilet Day, join the One Million Clean Toilets Movement in the fight against disease causing germs to save lives, one clean toilet at a time.

My parents oriented us the unsanitary issues of not cleaning the toilets. They also trained us to clean it properly and there were times that my mother would literally checked the bowl if its pristine white and clean. If not, I will repeat the process of doing it again until it pass to her standard.

Funny but I thought all people were like my parents who took those actions to make the toilets clean. When I started to use other toilets especially the public restrooms, little that I encountered the clean ones.

This is not only the public restrooms but also schools are did not have the convenience of clean toilet.

Thru the study of World Health Organization (WHO), children around the world miss an estimated 443 million school days each year because of diseases caused by poor sanitation and hygiene practices, including using unsanitary toilets.

If that is the case, the no. of sick days whenever students are absent affected their presence to learn yet reduces the quality of life lies with them in the future.

There are also many illnesses led to poor toilet sanitation like diarrhoeal disease and parasitic worm infections which can lead to nutritional deficiencies, physical and mental stunting, and death.

Is there a solution for this one?

Yes, very simple.

That is, the simple act of proper toilet sanitation can help prevent the spread of these germs which is according to Dr. Luisa Efren of the Philippine Public Health Association (PPHA) thru the use of  germ-kill cleaner with proven efficacy in eliminating bacteria, and not just any ordinary laundry bleach.

For the past three years, Unilever Philippines through its germ-kill expert brand Domex, has been working with UNICEF and PPHA to champion the One Million Clean Toilets Movement.

This advocacy program aims to educate Filipinos on proper toilet hygiene and the need for sanitized household toilets to keep their families safe against disease-causing germs.

Coming November 13, World Toilet Day, join the One Million Clean Toilets Movement in the fight against disease causing germs to save lives, one clean toilet at a time.
