Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out. – R. Collier
Cavinti would always be a fast escape adventure for the family. Name it from falls, river, lakes, caves.
This town is gifted what nature upholds within its deep meaning. The richness of the green, clean surrounding and cold weather made the area inhabited the treasure of flora and fauna.
One particular plant that is very visible and grows a lot is the Pandan tree which when weave becomes the finish products like mats, bags and their famous sambalio or hat.
With the acquired specialty skills of doing it manually, they capitalized to this craft and become one of town’s livelihood.
In celebration of Sambalilo Festival last August 1, a remarkable effort to put it in history not only in the Philippines but the whole world is to join different forces to be part of Guinness World Record.
With the measurement of 2.00m in height, 13.05m in width and 13.05m in diameter, Cavinti holds now the the world’s largest sambalilo attested by Swapnil Mahesh Dangarikar, a Guinness Adjudicator.
The concerted strength of 133 people who did it in 15 days, the challenge also was the funding as the town officials did look for sponsors to support all the costs they will be facing.
Because of the continuous objective to promote awareness, the interest of each effort finally unlock the road to success.
Part of the festivity were also fun activities around that showcase native handicrafts:
- Floral Parade
- Steet Dancing Parade
- Trade Booths from different barangay
- Cooking Contest
- Handicrafts Exhibit
Amazed also how this gown is made out of pandan.
Going around is also remarkable to stroll yet colorful as they are all decorated with sambalio.
Yes, quite tired but after all, my love to Cavinti becomes more passionate not only the place but also the people’s team effort to withstand all the challenges they face and be victorious.
Truly, their success is the sum of all small efforts repeatedly doing it everyday with lot of gusto as they acted upon their goals.
Again, our congratulations and thanks for the invite of witnessing this unprecedented event. Will definitely come back for more.
