Their childhood may be over, but that doesn’t mean playtime is. ~Ron Olson
My youngest kiddo knows how to swim as she likes the fun part of summer to be on the beach, pool, hot spring or any body of water. Name it, she will do those dive with the family or even with her friends. But these were only common thing for her.
When she turned 13 years old last March, there were some preferred activities she like to do. Sometimes she feel bored if that will not excite her.
When we got a chance to see the newest attraction of Manila Ocean Park‘s mermaid swim experience, I shared this to my daughter. I never thought that this was her innermost dream to become a mermaid and she likes to give it a try. For her, it would be an extra-ordinary summer experience.
Even we were in a hectic busy schedule on that day which was my mother’s birthday and a hop-in at the traditional in-laws out-of-town summer family reunion, we make time to be early in the morning at the park to squeezed it.
Actually, I was more excited also. I assisted and watched her as hubby was busy taking pictures and videos. Did you see those copyright on those pictures? Yes, he was happy documenting it.
Here were some of the mermaid activities my daughter experienced:
- They were oriented first on how they will take the suit and how to swim.
- After that, they will be suiting up those elastic mermaid monotail which are colorful, comfortable and easy to wear
- For 45-minutes program, they will learn how to do those basic swimming, use to glide with the fish tail underwater and some proper breathing techniques
I love how the swimming instructor assisted my daughter and the rest of the guests around. They were patient enough to carry them all along and teach them the style of having a tail on their feet doing those swim around.
As kiddo was acquainted after the lesson, she got those opportunity to swim alone and even take into next level of dipping more getting those fish tails gliding around.
Aside from that, each guest will also receive a souvenir photo and do a mermaid pose.
Jam also take time to swim in the outdoor Jacuzzi and indoor swimming pool of Liquid Pool & Lounge.
With this mermaid experience, definitely, my kiddo has a fun, fun outdoor activity as well as injecting appreciation of marine life around.
A learning lesson for me that as a parent, we have to give their playtime a twist even they are already grown up. Still, children need to be adaptable and let them create their own experience as they treasure those moments.
The said mermaid experience has an affordable rate of P 400.00 per head. Children 5 years old and above may avail of this activity. The swimming area is near the Liquid Pool and Shark’s Ray. Promo period runs from April 11 to May 31, 2014.
The park is located behind Quirino Grandstand in Luneta, Manila.
