Memories, even your most precious ones, fade surprisingly quickly. The memories I value most, I don’t ever see them fading.
I still vividly remembered my first long time childhood travel every summer was Mindoro.
My relatives on the father side were living here. Since I can personally see my cousins during summer after school break, family make it a point to book a ferry for all of us that becomes a reunion.
It was way, way back when I was a teenager. No coming back to the place after that since most of them already settled here in the metro.
When I got a chance to visit it again, I grab the opportunity even it would be sooo tiring to visit it in one day. I would like to see what had been the changes all these years.
With the seamless route of Jam Liner or even Philtranco bus hop and vying a ferry ride to Fast Cat roll-on roll-off (RORO) vessels, then a tour adventure to Calapan is now possible.
Living in the south going to the metro, I’m use to Jam Liner ride eversince – it’s always my comfort choice like spacious seats to rest, clean bus aside from the drivers and conductors who are soooo courteous.
As we arrived at Batangas port, loading to Fast Cat made me excited. I’m use to RORO but if this would be a first time to try a vessel like this, then it would be a new experience for us.
We have also the opportunity to explore it and be oriented insde the ferry.
Designed by Sea Transport Solutions of Australia which is the leading designer of mid-speed catamaran vessels in the world that perfectly suits the weather and sea condition in the country. It is also classified by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), indicating compliance with international safety rules and regulations.
Big comparison looking back how I ride before, the said vessel surpass the basic customer service like:
- State-of-the-art RORO vessel
- Comfort seating
- Can easily drive their cars and load it fast.
- Clean comfort rooms
- Food served are heated once you ordered in their mini eatery
- Crews are attentive and even oriented us how to use the life jacket which I only see in a plane ride
- Elevators are provided for Senior Citizens and PWD
Almost two hours travel, now we are ready to explore Calapan, Mindoro.
Actually, it was some sort of quick, as in quick island immersion.
Our first stop – Silonay Mangrove Conservation and Eco Park is a mangrove forest boardwalk buid in bamboo as a footbridge. To end the walk, a 6-meter high tower climb would be a resting time to see the whole view.
Considered also a break for us after the heated walk was to visit SANAKA Special Banana Chips Factory concentrated to housewives for additional income selling banana chips.
From there, we were oriented how to painstakingly prepare banana chips naturally from riping the banana, slicing and frying yet drying it while packing it manually.
Have bought almost 15 packs as part of it, I will be hoarding all of them at home. Maybe that is how it was really, really love it to munch.
From Calapan City, we have our lunch at Auntie Lola. A typical Flipino restaurant, there were too much to improve. Maybe they prepare the food too long to wait that made some of it not too appetizing anymore.
From all our stop-over, Baco Infinity Farm is the best discovery – crystalized cold spring water with an overflowing falls for each step. I’m a person who love to go back to water falls as I find it very refreshing and revigorate my spirit everytime I do a quick swim.
This would made me go back and definitely would do a separate post with this enchanting place. I saw a trekking part along the area and since we have limited time, this would be my first itinerary.
Before we call it a day, we dropped off to Isel Ian Halo Halo to cool down. Hubby is not fond of eating Halo Halo. Maybe he find it too messy to mix all the ingredients. I’m waiting he will give me his share even I have one. It’s not. He loves it.
The fine shave ice is like an ice cream that melts to each mouth – creamy yet not too sweet. The ingredients are all fresh – sumptuous yet rich in flavor.
Yes, treasuring childhood memories, that’s what this immersion bit me.
From there, memories, even the most precious ones, fade surprisingly quickly. The memories I value most, I don’t ever see them fading but relive my childhood treasure to the place.
Got this feeling to never forget where you came from and when you had that chance, definitely, it would be a perfect time to get that smile once again reminiscing those memories.
That’s it as we are heading back to the metro.
Yes, it’s kinda hanging feeling but the best part, there is a reason that we will definitely coming back to explore more the province.
There were so much changes like the roads and mall around, still the stunning view of Mt. Halcon keeps it nature’s beauty.
Overall, riding the route of Jam Liner and Fast Cat are safe, fast and convenient ferry transport for us passengers.
