Buying is the new way of giving
Me and hubby are charity supporters and advocators eversince. Even when we checked our sched that was too hectic for us, we make time for it. It is a matter of returning back all the blessings.
That is where we bump in Caritas Manila Since we have meeting also in the metro in the afternoon, their opening event shoot to our schedule.
Who is Caritas Manila?
CARITAS MANILA is the lead church NPO operating in the Philippines, with social services and integrated family development programs for the poor and the vulnerable. Its key intervention programs for poverty alleviation are in education and economics to benefit its youth and family partners.
Caritas Manila opened its new Segunda Mana Charity Store at Platform Northbound, Greenfield District Station, Mandaluyong City last November 15, 2014 where Rev. Fr. Anton CT Pascual, Executive Director of Caritas Manila, graced the blessing and ribbon-cutting of the newest branch.
This is the 16th branch of Segunda Mana. Other stores located at Caritas Manila Head Office, Makati Cinema Square, Isetann Cinerama Complex, Harrison Plaza, StarMall-Edsa, StarMall-Alabang, Victory Central Mall, Victory Shopping Center, Victory Pasay Mall, Farmer’s Plaza, Sta. Lucia Mall, Riverbank Center-Marikina, Metropoint Mall Edsa-Taft Rotonda, San Roque Cathedral and Victory Mall, Lacson Underpass, Quiapo Manila.
Segunda Mana, also known as Caritas In-Kind, is the donations in-kind program of Caritas Manila. Segunda Mana accepts the following items: old items that can still be use, used items that still have value, new items, and old stocks and non-moving inventories.
Pre-loved items such as clothes, shoes, bags, toys, home and fashion accessories are donated by generous companies, organizations and individuals which are offered at friendly prices in Segunda Mana stalls.
I bought Shubizz shoes for P 200.00 and Egg bag for P 150.00 that I think still new – still in the shoe box while the bag has an original label with it. To think these were branded and has a good quality with a range of P 800.00 – P 1,500.00. Really a steal!
This is new for me. Caritas Manila also helps the livelihood of poor communities through its Social Entrepreneurship Program by encouraging entrepreneurial spirit and marketing their products. The program basically provides skills training to urban poor communities as well as the other marginalized sectors and help them become social entrepreneurs.
From dishwashing liquid, fabric conditioners, detergent powder, eco-bag which all has a very affordable price.
Proceeds from the sale of the items will go to the pro-poor programs of Caritas Manila particularly to support the scholarship of the Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP).
Caritas Manila will also hold its 2nd Buy and Give Expo on November 28, 29 and 30 at the Glorietta Activity Center, Palm Drive, Makati City – a bigger venue for showcasing their products. Definitely, will be there to shop for Christmas gifts to my friends and loved ones. Hope to see you there.
